Today
Today our beautiful baby boy is 1 year old!
Today he babbles, screams, and talks all day!
Today he and Norah love to play and laugh together.
We are looking forward to his second year--he brings us new surprises each day.
One year ago
One year ago, our beautiful baby boy was born.
One year ago, he would sleep almost all day and barely made a sound!
One year ago, Norah became a big sister!
Time flies!

Grant Park
We also walked along Lake Michigan at Grant Park. Shuhui said the lake looks like an ocean! It was her first time seeing it.
Millenium Park
We went to pick up our friend Shuhui yesterday, and we stopped at Millenium Park in downtown Chicago to walk around a bit. Here we are near the reflective sculpture, "Cloud Gate".
Hey, the patio is not too bad
For a larger prison, I can put him on the patio, which is surrounded by grass, so he won't take off! Downside: he eats cut grass and wood chips that he finds.
Pretty Purple Princess
Norah somehow got outside with her dress-up princess dress on--I must have had a lapse of supervision/bossiness. Anyway, she was a vision in all purple!
Senior Picture, 14 years early
Doesn't this look like a senior picture pose (aside from the messy, fly-away hair)? She was just doing this--I didn't prompt her at all!
Invisible Fence
Luca hates the feel of grass, so when I want him to be still all I have to do is plop him on a blanket in the backyard, and he stays put. Here he is "testing the waters," but he didn't move from his blanket.
Funny Face
Luca loves to make this funny face where he squints his eyes and shows us all his teeth and breaths in and out loudly through his nose. It's quite a sight to see!
All sorts of help
We had tons of help for the move. Thank you to: Chiara's Dad, Jim, Alessia, Krista, and Eric for all your hard work and help. We really couldn't have done this without you! Alessia even went the extra mile and volunteered to mow the lawn for us--Jim said he's never seen her do that in all the time they've been married--or maybe she was mowing so she could avoid lifting boxes? Either way, it was great!
Grandpa's sense of humor
I didn't get many pictures during the move because I was distracted, but my dad thought it would be funny to pretend like we were going to move Luca to the new house in the moving truck. Norah definitely did NOT think this was a good idea, and it took a lot of convincing to get her to stop fretting about it!
Big Girl
Norah stomped around in my heels a couple weeks ago; it was cute!
Here we are in the final stages of packing up before the move--excuse the mess!

Ode to Plum Grove
It’s been a long, cold winter; we can’t wait to spend time in the sun!
Goodbye tiny kitchen, goodbye electric range
Goodbye on-site handyman; you were creepy and strange
Goodbye weird neighbors with your late-night activities
Goodbye getting rained on while hauling in groceries
Goodbye hearing people walk above us in clogs
Good bye drafty windows, goodbye yappy dogs
Good bye lush green lawn filled with dog poo and piddle
I don't think we'll miss you, not even a little
